Fellig Attacked By Khadoran Empire!

Dear readers, many of you have expressed concern these past weeks over the continued hostilities between Khador and Cygnar and what they might mean for Ord and the rest of the Iron Kingdoms. We share those concerns and find it our unfortunate duty to report that Khadoran troops have attacked the city of Fellig and nearby Deepwood Tower. Using the weather against her defenders, Kommandant Gurvaldt Irusk has lead a massive force of warjacks and Man-O-War to lay siege to the city and tower. Much of Deepwood's garrison recently moved eastward in response to Protectorate military overtures, and the fortress' desperately outnumbered defenders are said to be covering every foot of lost ground in Khadoran bodies. (more...)

Dispatches report that the initial swift and brutal attacks effectively caught Cygnar with their proverbial britches down. Only through Lord General Olan Duggan's tactical genius did the Cygnaran forces regroup and mount a proper defense. The Duke of Northforest was last seen where the fighting was thickest, shouting orders to his troops as he fought alongside them. The doughty Lord General is an inspiration to Cygnar's northern soldiers, as well as the Morridane in the region, and his dire situation could sorely affect morale all along the front.

With the battle for Fellig well underway, the Cygnaran military has mobilized and strengthened defenses at Bainsmarket and Point Bourne. Our own military is carefully watching the events in Fellig, and the Baird has ordered patrols along the Dragon's Tongue increased. Should Khador takes not only Fellig but also Point Bourne, they would gain access to the river through Lake Thornmere.

Just the rumor of war calls to the Nightmare Empire. With battle well and truly joined between Khador and Cygnar, Cryxian fleets have once again begun haunting the Cygnaran and Ordic coastlines. In response, King Baird has greatly increased the number patrols along our shores. The brave Ordic navy watches for Cryxian raiders as well as monitoring the Khadoran and Cygnaran fleets as the war escalates. Undead sighting during the winter were but a pale precursor to the onslaught we will face if even a fraction of these vessels make land intact. Remember the fate of Lasterville and the destruction wrought by shipwrecked raiders!

Scenarios
Storm Lances Rout Protectorate Forces
Cygnar vs Protectorate Scenario (Spring Season, Week 2)
Increased conflicts with Protectorate forces near King's Vine convinced Scout General Rebald of plans for a large-scale attack by the Hierarch's forces.
Increased conflicts with Protectorate forces near King's Vine convinced Scout General Rebald of plans for a large-scale attack by the Hierarch's forces.

Cygnaran forces took the fight to the Protectorate once again. A detachment of Storm Lances en route to Caspia took an interest in the conflict and lent their mechanikal might to the battle. Their electrified charge caught the Protectorate's infantry unaware and forced them to retreat back across the mud-choked shores of the Black River. With this second encounter in as many weeks, Scout General Rebald has called for increased patrols along the river in an effort to prevent additional incursions by Menite forces.

Gravemaker

Description
Two armies stand poised over a miserable, mud-slicked wasteland in the middle of nowhere. By nightfall this patch of ground will have been transformed in a field of honor, sanctified by the blood of the fallen.

Special Rules
Place an 8" diameter mud pit in the center of the table. The mud pit is rough terrain.

The first player to hold the mud pit for three (3) consecutive rounds wins the game. A player holds the mud pit if he controls all models within the mud pit during his Maintenance Phase. Models engaged in melee combat cannot be used to hold a location. Neither warrior models with CMD stats of 1 or less nor Incorporeal models can hold a location.

Beginning
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a standard starting roll, and use standard deployment zones (see Prime Remix, pg. 29).

Victory Conditions
A player scores a primary victory condition and wins if he holds the mud pit for three (3) consecutive rounds.

A player wins when he has the only remaining warcaster(s) in play. If time runs out before one player has won, the player with the most Victory Points wins.

Fate of Sword Knight Company Unknown After Khadoran Attack
Cygnar vs Khador Scenario (Spring Season, Week 2)
Apparently, the events last week near Fellig were a precursor to Khador's attack on Cygnar.
After their encounter with the 188th Winter Guard last week, the 34th Sword Knights found themselves in harm's way as the right flank of Kommandant Irusk's invasion army swept through the Thornwood surrounding Fellig.

The camaraderie and brotherhood emphasized in Sword Knight training shone through as wave after wave of Khadoran soldiers attempted to break through the 34th. Morrow's blessing fell upon the brave soldiers in the form of rain that flooded the plain beneath their position and slowed the Khadoran advance. When he learned of this delay, Irusk adjusted his battle lines and the 34th found itself overwhelmed by Khadoran soldiers. No further news has yet reached our offices of the surviving sword knights.

Floodland

Description
Two beleaguered forces meet on a flood plain in the midst of a torrential down pour. With the waters rising, a decisive victory depends on seizing the high ground.

Special Rules
Place a 12" diameter, 1" high hill in the center of the table. Place a 6" diameter, 1" high hill centered on top of that hill. No additional terrain features can be placed on either hill. Players place additional terrain features normally. Forward thinking players will place additional hills.

Players gain one (1) Control Point for holding the 6" hill. A player holds the hill if he controls all models on the hill at the beginning of his Maintenance Phase. Models engaged in melee combat cannot be used to hold a location. Neither warrior models with CMD stats of 1 or less nor Incorporeal models can hold a location. The first player to score seven (7) Control Points wins the game.

At the end of the second player's second turn, the waters rise. The ground level of the table, meaning entire surface of the table with less than 1" of elevation, is now covered in shallow water. The game goes into Hammertime.

When the hammer falls, the waters rise again. When this happens, the ground level becomes deep water and 1" elevations are covered in shallow water. (See Water, Prime Remix, pages 78-79.)

Hammertime

After a number of rounds described in the scenario, a random chance exists in which the hammer will fall at the end of each additional round. At the end of the last player's turn of the round described, one of the players rolls a d6. On the result of 1 the hammer falls. If the hammer does not fall, players continue to play until the end of the next round. At the end of each additional round, roll to see if the hammer falls. The chance of the hammer falling is increased by 1 each additional round until the third round. From the third additional round on, the hammer falls on a roll of 1-3.

For example, Erik and Rob are playing a scenario that goes into Hammertime after the second round. At the end of the third round, the hammer falls on a roll of 1. At the end of the fourth round the hammer falls on a roll of 1 or 2. Starting at the end of round five, the hammer falls at the end of any round on a roll of 1-3.

Beginning
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a standard starting roll, and use standard deployment zones (see Prime Remix, pg. 29).

Victory Conditions
The first player to accumulate seven (7) Control Points scores a primary victory condition and wins the game.

A player wins when he has the only remaining warcaster(s) in play. If time runs out before one player has won, the player with the most Control Points wins. In case of a tie, the player with the most Victory Points wins.

Night Raids Still Plague Cygnaran Forces
Cygnar vs. Cryx Scenario (Spring Season, Week 2)
Members of the 7th Division near Eastwall, led by Commander Timeck Keller, shifted to high alert after nightly raids over the past two weeks left the soldiers in a state of near panic and insomnia.

Our correspondent reports that these raids always occur along the tree line near the river's edge, prompting the commander to believe Protectorate saboteurs are testing the Cygnaran defenses before a large-scale assault. Of course, he is also quick to point out little is to be learned by probing defenses with a small contingent of troops in the dark of night.

What he is more concerned about is the disappearance of his men. Signs of violence and sounds of combat can be heard when these raids take place, but by the time reinforcements arrive, the conflict has ended and the attackers - and their victims - have disappeared into the night.

Round the Ol' Oak Tree

Description
Two rival forces square off for control of a forest in the center of the battlefield. An army that can hold the forest will take the field.

Special Rules
Place a 12" forest in the center of the table.

The first player to hold the forest for three (3) consecutive rounds wins the game. A player holds the forest if he controls all models within the forest during his Maintenance Phase. Models engaged in melee combat cannot be used to hold a location. Neither warrior models with CMD stats of 1 or less nor incorporeal models can hold a location.

Beginning
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a standard starting roll, and use standard deployment zones (see WARMACHINE: Prime Remix, pg. 29).

Victory Conditions
A player wins and scores primary victory condition if he holds the forest for three (3) consecutive rounds.

A player wins if his opponent no longer has any warcasters in play. If time runs out before one player has won, the player with the most Victory Points wins.

Khadoran Troops Overrun Protectorate Position
Protectorate vs Khador Scenario (Spring Season, Week 2)
In their rush to attack Fellig this week, Khadoran forces came upon a Protectorate force east of Deepwood Tower.

Rapidly advancing Khadoran troops, including several warjacks, came into direct conflict with Protectorate troops using the Thornwood to mask their movements. Both forces were surprised to discover the other so far east, and so far into Cygnaran territory, but recovered quickly and set about destroying one another.

Kommander Nikolus Narbonev told our correspondent, "To discover those swine dug into the hills was both a blessing and a curse. They forced us to teach them a lesson about how true soldiers fight and delayed our assault on Fellig by several minutes. Ah, if only you could have seen that glorious battle...by Morrow, the delay was worth it!"

Heading for the Hills

Description
The key to this victory is control of the high ground.

Special Rules
See the map. Place four (4) 8" diameter hills as shown on the map. Two hills are centered on the middle of the table, one 12" from the west table edge and the other 12" from the east table edge. The other two hills are centered between the east and west table edges, one 12" from the north table edge and the other 12" from the south table edge.

The first player to hold three or more hills simultaneously for three (3) consecutive rounds wins the game. A player holds the hill if he controls all models within its area during his Maintenance Phase.

A player scores a primary victory condition and wins if he holds three or more hills simultaneously for three (3) consecutive rounds.

A player wins if his opponent no longer has any warcasters in play. If time runs out before one player has won, the player with the most Victory Points wins.

Cryxian Outpost Discovered in Erud Hills
Protectorate vs Cryx Scenario (Spring Season, Week 2)
Good news, dear readers! Our unnamed correspondent in the Protectorate has resurfaced, but his first missive shares with us news of a most dire nature.

Word has reached him regarding a group of miners in the Erud Hills. Apparently, these miners stumbled across the macabre site of Cryxian earthworks. The miners were unsure of what they had found until they were set upon by thralls buried beneath the sand. The two survivors fled north to Imer where Protectorate forces immediately mobilized to deal with the matter.

Shell Shock

Description
This is a battle between two desperate entrenched forces. Separating them is a desolate killing field. Best write those last letters home, this one is going to be rough.

Special Rules
Place a 3" x 10" trench terrain feature in the center of each player's deployment zone, 7" from the rear table edge. This is the character's command trench. The first player to hold his opponent's command trench wins the game. A player holds a location if he controls all models within the space described during his Maintenance Phase. Models engaged in melee combat cannot be used to hold a location. Neither warrior models with CMD stats of 1 or less nor Incorporeal models can hold a location.

Instead of placing terrain normally, players take turns each placing eight (8) trench templates or rubble terrain features. Rubble terrain features are obstacles or obstructions 2" x 2" or smaller. A player can only place terrain on his side of the table.

Trenches

Trenches are earthwork fortifications represented by templates placed on the table. Unlike other terrain features, trenches are not required to be placed at least 3" apart, and a trench may touch another trench. Models completely within the trench template have cover (+4 DEF) when targeted with a ranged or magic attack by a model not completely inside the trench template. Models completely inside a trench template do not suffer blast damage from attacks unless the center of the AOE is within the trench template. When drawing line of sight to a model not completely within the Trench template, ignore intervening models completely within the template.

Beginning
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a standard starting roll, and use standard deployment zones (see Prime Remix, pg. 29).

Victory Conditions
The first player to hold his opponent's command trench scores a primary victory condition and wins the game.

A player wins when he has the only remaining warcaster(s) in play. If time runs out before one player has won, the player with the most Victory Points wins.

Attacks Against Khadoran Agents Continue in Occupied Llael
Khador vs. Cryx Scenario (Spring Season, Week 2)
For several weeks now we have brought you reports from Llael regarding numerous attacks - many successful - against the Khadoran military leadership by Cryxian agents.

What these attacks portend for both Llael and Khador remains unclear, but they have sown fear and doubt into the Khadorans' minds. Our unnamed source in Llael tells us that official reports sent back to Korsk make little or no mention of the undead menace that strikes without warning, instead laying blame on imagined Llaelese Resistance fighters.

The latest assault came this week against several of Kommander Milianov's aides near Laedry's Outer Honor Fields. Reportedly, the aides were traveling through the monuments of the Honor Fields east of the city when the earth around them erupted as thralls and bonejacks set upon them. Khadoran forces were quickly diverted to the site where a full scale battle promptly erupted.

The Stone Ring

Description
Whether one considers it a fulcrum of ancient power or a local landmark, today the stone circle is the site of a pitched battle for dominance between two great forces.

Special Rules
Place 6 standing stones in a circle in the middle of the table. Each standing stone is 1" in diameter and 3" from the center of the table. The standing stones cannot be damaged in any way.

The first player to hold the area between the standing stones for three consecutive rounds wins the game. A player holds a location if he controls all models within the space described during his Maintenance Phase. Models engaged in melee combat cannot be used to hold a location. Neither warrior models with CMD stats of 1 or less nor Incorporeal models can hold a location.

Beginning
Determine deployment zones and turn order with a standard starting roll, and use standard deployment zones (see Prime Remix, pg. 29).

Victory Conditions
A player who holds the area between the standing stones for three (3) consecutive rounds scores a primary victory condition and wins the game.

A player wins when he has the only remaining warcaster(s) in play. If time runs out before one player has won, the player with the most Victory Points wins.

Weather
Dangerous lightning storms fill the skies this week. Beware experiments by local alchemists and wizards. These can have terrible consequences if not conducted properly. Travelers should take all the necessary precautions when outdoors.
Lightning Storm Rule:
Roll a d6 each round before the first player's turn. On a roll of 1, lightning strikes the battlefield. This round all warjacks suffer disruption. Due to the deafening blast, warrior models cannot give or receive orders this round. A warjack suffering Disruption loses any unused focus points and cannot be allocated focus points or channel spells.
Bounties
War Councils have issued the following bounties this week, promising bonuses to soldiers and officers who can accomplish difficult goals.
Cygnar: Bounty on the Protectorate
King Leto Raelthorne addressed the Cygnaran Royal Assembly's concerns regarding movement of Protectorate soldiers north of Caspia and called on Eastwall's Commander Timeck Keller to "explain" to the Sul-Menites the error of attacking innocent Cygnarans across the Black River. "The King's orders are clear, gentlemen," Keller said. "Any incursion by the Protectorate will be dealt with swiftly and with little room for misinterpreting our intentions should additional forces attempt other crossings." The Commander promised a bonus of ten crowns to all fresh recruits and fifteen crowns to all veterans of one or more tours who can claim a confirmed kill this week.
Massacre
When playing a game this week against a player on a Protectorate team, a Cygnar player scores two (2) additional League Point if he destroys ten of his opponent's models in one turn.
(close)
Protectorate: Bounty on Cygnar
Hierarch Garrick Voyle, upon receiving news of King Leto's "explanation" to his followers, gave little room for misinterpretation when he instructed his commanders this week. "Cygnar's king believes his paltry forces will halt the will of the Creator of Man. Send them to Urcaen. Let Leto seek them there." Voyle went on to promise a day of rest to all Protectorate troops who do their duty in battle this week by taking at least two Caspian lives.
Genocide
When playing a game this week against a player on a Cygnar team, a Protectorate player scores two (2) additional League Points if all his opponent's trooper models are destroyed or removed from play during the game.

Khador: Bounty on Cryx
In an address to the occupying forces of Merywyn, Kommandant Mikhail Ivdanovich called for a purge of Cryxian warjacks. "There is a carrion army skulking in the shadows of our lands. For too long we have permitted its machines of war to act unhindered. No longer! The Empress will pay a talon to each man who aids in the destruction of the engines of our enemy. Thrice that amount if he is solely responsible for its destruction!"
Demolition
When playing a game this week against a player on a Cryx team, a Khador player scores two (2) additional League Points if all his opponent's warjacks are disabled, inert, destroyed, or removed from play at the end of the game.
(close)
Cryx: Bounty on Khador
Lich Lord Asphyxious has ordered his commanders to focus on the destruction of Khadoran warjacks to force reliance on living, breathing soldiers and increase casualty counts. "Set thine sights on the mechanisms of war. With his engines so despoiled, our enemy must conduct his wars in the manner of his forefathers, with blade in hand and rage in heart. Then thou shall reap the fields of slaughter."
Wrecking Yard
When playing a game this week against a player on a Khador team, a Cryx player scores two (2) additional League Points if warcasters under his control destroy one or more enemy warjacks with a melee attack.
